There will be a special discounted admission to the California State Mining and Mineral Museum during the Mariposa County Fair. Admission will only be $1 for adults. Kids 16 and under are free with a paid adult. Kids that participate in our outdoor mineral activities can earn a free museum admission for their parents.
Starting Friday, September 2nd, kids can enjoy a bingo scavenger hunt in the museum. We have prizes for completed scavenger hunts! Saturday and Sunday afternoon from 12:00 to 6:00, kids can make a cool sand painting sun visor or a birthstone necklace at our free outdoor activity booth.
The museum has the only air conditioned building on the Fairgrounds! Take a break from the heat surrounded by some of the most spectacular gold and mineral specimens from around the world. Or shop in comfort. There will be a 10% off sale in the museum shop during the fair. The shop offers everything from beautiful jewelry and collectible mineral specimens to books on geology, prospecting, and mining history. Come see our new souvenir key chains.
We will be open from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM Friday, 12:00 AM until 8:00 PM Saturday and Sunday, and from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM on Monday, Labor Day weekend. Outdoor kids’ activities are from 12:00 AM until 6:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday. The museum is located on the midway at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds, 2 miles south of Mariposa on Highway 49.
